Family Sharing?
So I family share my steam account with 2 of my friends - one of which is in England and I am in Scotland. We have been "family sharing" our games for as long as I have been on steam.

Today I noticed this on his games:
"This legacy library sharing feature will be retired in early 2025. Create or join a STEAM FAMILY to keep sharing your games"

So what is confusing me is this - I tried making a STEAM FAMILY to share my games but it would NOT allow me to do it with my friend. It said "You can only allow household members".

So, does that mean I can no longer share my library with my friends anymore or vice versa?

Everyone in a Steam Family must be in the same country and have their Steam Store region set to the same country too.
So yeah, no more sharing with people in other countries.

So because he is in England and me Scotland he won't be able to?

Bare in mind, this is the UK.

Also, my other friend that is also in Scotland could not "access" family sharing from me because the STEAM FAMILY feature only allows household members...

Thats because the new Family systems checks your login history when being invited to a family and if that account never logged into Steam from a nearbye location to the one sending the invite it wont allow that account to join the family.

There IS a workaround for that at the moment, let the user you want to inviite log into your PC with their Steam account and start any game for 1-2 minutes.
Then switch over to your own account and send them the invite, it will now work since for Steam that users last login and playtime session was at the same location.
After they joined the family it does not really matter anymore where they are ( as long as its the same country), its just the inviting thats such a pain.

Question, What if I have another account, and connect that to steam family, and then share that account with my friend in Canada? 🤔
