Nvidia graphics driver vulnerability?
So just saw this on instagram, didn't take it seriously but still bothered to check and found legit articles about it, the situation seems pretty serious to be honest. I'll be real, I haven't updated my driver in about a year, haven't bought any new games here since I mainly play on ps5 now so I guess it really didn't matter until now that I'm possibly at risk here, I only play some of my old games here time to time. What do you guys think about this? Should I be worried or am I already tapped?

I don't touch these drivers unless I absolutely have to, DDU and then clean manual install for proper results and all that it's a messy process in my opinion. I'd like to hear what do you guys think before I do anything.

In estimation around 4 times a year there was a reason to update nvidia drivers.

Years ago, ati updates caused the icons on desktop to move. That was bad.
Today updating a driver is no biggie.
so... uhhh... low latency mode broke

What setting is that? And how did it break?

In nvidia control panel program settings, I use it specifically for evil within 1, it fixes the game's microstutters I don't know exactly how, but the game drew more wattage with this setting I was okay with it. Now it's drawing 40 watts instead of 70-80 as usual and the stuttering is back. I tried restoring settings in nvidia control panel, cleaning the game's settings file and verifying the game. Apparently low latency mode is not working for any game now
I never used that, only vsync and 3 buffer.
So i would not know if it works now or not.

Did not have micro stutter differences or any..... with several drivers.

Also its weird how it drew more power, as low latency says, it limits the image queue, basically limiting the cpu being ahead (as far as i understood).

Nah it's just evil within actually, it's a god awful port but I just love this game to death.

I tested low latency mode in other games like I said, no difference in wattage or anything, it just doesn't work anymore. Try an old game which doesn't utilize 100% of your GPU with locked framerate, don't move around and stand still then check the wattage on your GPU with whatever monitoring tools you use and then turn on low latency mode in program settings, if you see an increase or double wattage than before then it works for you.
I read that low latency introduces stutter...... And that it doesnt work in dx12 and vulcan.
I will check the game without it, to see if it stutters.
I tested it. The game seems to have micro stutters if you look around with controller at 60fps vsync (only choice).
The default 30fps do not show that stutter. But things get blurry.

Low latency did nothing.

It looks like they made the game for 30 fps, but why does it get so blurry when you look around? Even the two people at the entrance. Looked really bad.

Did not expect you to test the exact game, well yeah that's just how it runs even if the fps says it's flat 60, the camera just hitches even in pre rendered videos and credits but low latency mode set to ultra fixed like 95% of it before this driver update.

Did you see any wattage difference with low latency mode on and off?
As you speak of 95% that was the number i would call i fixed the problem as.

1) Open the folder "base" of the game. Search release cfg. Set r_swapinterval 0

2) In nvidia set for THE GAME fps 62 (maybe 60 is better, dont know). Have vsync on adaptive (thats what i have)

Game is good playable with 60fps ingame.

Back then this didn't work for me but the low latency mode did, I think they just broke it with the new driver
For me it works. Try and let me know.
I found it funny that we both came up with the number 95%.
Made a test with 60fps in nvidia.
On the street i thought its worse than 62. But in the entrance room it was totally fixed.

I dont see the pattern, but that is something. Maybe 61 is the spot. Just a guess.

The port is just flawed, man. It just does things like that. This one time I reinstalled the game and out of nowhere I was getting 30-40fps on this exact PC, then I just deleted the settings config file and let it recreate it as I launched the game again and that fixed it, solid 60fps
Wonder why they kept it like that.
At least there are ways to fix it.
