Scratched off the code
Hi, my mum bought me a Steam gift card. When I scratched off the code, I accidentally removed the first 4 characters. I contacted Steam support with a photo of the card and check, but they told me to contact the shop. I realized I’d mistakenly wrote "I bought a damaged card" instead of saying "I damaged it", so I clarified. A few hours later, customer support replied again, saying, "We can't do anything, because,we have no access to the activation systems used by retailers please contact the shop."
My code was NOT written on the check. And I have question how can I get my money on steam wallet?

I mean Steam Support already told you what to do... Not sure what else you want the community to say.

If you damaged the code and can't read it, take it back to where you bought and see if they will refund or exchange it.

Ask that shop if they have record of it, and be luck if they have scanned the code in to who they sold the card to,

and FFS try a Magnify glass also , even mobil/tablet has camara with zoom, there is alot of ways that sometimes work with geting zoom functions one way or other.

yes i know it sould like a joke play sheloc homlens, but other steam user can tell you it might work sometimes.

Usually a shop doesn't know wether or not a card go activated. Usually steam support is the one who can help there. No idea why they are saying something different, when this was the correct approach. If you have a scratch card, its in steams system, if it was a printed one, its on the shop, to check if they can reprint it.

Either way, I feel like they still misunderstood you.

I don't even know how people always manage to scratch off the numbers of the code aswell. It comes of so easily, you barely have to do any scratching and doing that, it is impossible to damage the codes...

I understand your concern however, please contact the seller for assistance.

As previously mentioned, Steam can't activate these codes because we have no access to the activation systems used by retailers. We also can't issue replacements, because we do not distribute the Wallet codes ourselves. The seller is your best resource for assistance.

Because we have provided all the information we have for your issue I'm closing this help request. If you have an unrelated issue please open a new help request and we will be happy to help.
