Immm Yeah. you may want to change your main account password. There is no bbug that creates a duplicate account. Someone just phished you.
This is my main account. I reset my password but i dont understand if i did get hacked, why the game was just put into the other account instead. Seems like steam just messed up and created an alternate account when i reset my password. Is there anyway im able to contact them directly or get my game back?
You probably created two accounts by mistake, one of which has a typo in your username or something, and then forgot that you'd done it. Then you logged into the one with the typo'd username by mistake.
Your friend bought the game on Steam, so they can probably get a refund for it, rebuy it, and then gift it again. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

Those numbers are really close together; these accounts were created at almost the same time. And they're definitely both old; accounts created today have 9 digits, not 8.
i defintily didnt create a second account, i changed my password which seemed to create the duplicate account, maybe there was a bug or something there. Looks like ill just have to buy the game again
If I got a dime every time someone claimed that... I could buy every game on Steam and have plenty to spare.
It didn't accidentally make an account that's months (years?) old. You accidentally made two accounts all that time ago. Apply for a refund, game and money should go back to your friend.
How exactly can an account even be created by changing ones password? Even so, Is it even possilbe to create a second account under the same email?
as well as, How did the game that was sent to this account get sent to the other instead? even though the game was gifted to this accounts name and not the other.
thanks for the help, Really solved my problem. Why are you here again?
It can't. Which is why it's silly to assume that is what happened.
Yes, there's no limit to accounts per same email
Two options (possibly more, but not all that bothered to think really hard on this):
1) He send it to your e-mail, you have two accounts, with similar names, and same passwords and logged into the wrong one in your browser.
2) He send it the wrong account, which is why you needed to log in to your web browser in the first place.
Thanks for the help but he just sent me a referal link which i opened in my browser, had to reset the password because i never login the browser and couldnt remember it. So he didnt send it to my email nor the wrong account. the only option i can think of is that both my accounts can be logged into using the exact same credentials, even so, i changed my password so i dont see how it happened.
even if you or the other non-constructive commenters think that i simply created a duplicate accound and forgot, I didnt. I had, have and will have no use for multiple accounts, have never created more than one steam account.
I have no idea how the game was linked to the other account as one would have to accept the gift in the account aswell. Not only i didnt login into the account via the referal link, I didnt accept it into my library or as a gift. Unless someone else is using my other account and was able to activate the referal link before me (seems extremly unlikely).
Everything in this situation seems unprobable but as know one knows any solution or why the problem arose in the first place, I will just have to strike this up as a lost and purchase the game.
It's really, really, really easy to create an account to check out a service, decide not to use it and forget you ever made it, only to make another one a few months later and find your preferred username already in use. The human memory is really good at faking infallibility, but virtually all the unimportant stuff is thrown out and forgotten.
Log out of your steam client, do recover account and enter your e-mail address. It will mail you (at least) two account names and those accounts will be much older than the events of today.
As for the game/browser thing, my guess is that your browser had the other account name stored as a cookie or a login profile.
thanks to those with contructive comments!
