ALL Games crashing within seconds of starting
So I started up my computer this morning and was met with the surprise of none of my games working. After searching around all day, I've found nobody with the same problem as me. So far, I've made sure my computer is up to date, updated all my drivers, uninstalled Steam and reinstalled, redownloaded multiple games, restarted the computer multiple times, and just about everything people have suggested. When I start a game, the game will open, but most games won't get past the title screen before closing and none of them give me error messages either. I'm using Windows 10 btw.

I'm using Windows 8, and I am having the same issue. It used to let me play for a while before crashing, but now it's not even finishing loading on some games...
I've had the problem of games not actually starting up before, but that usually fixes itself with a restart. However, this problem won't go away like that.
And this is a problem with EVERY game
I have only tried Skyrim, which crashes almost immediately upon starting the last saved game, and Civ 5, which didin't finish loading.
what is your computer specs?
I have an AMD A8-6600K APU with Radeon9tm) HD Graphics 3.90 GHz Processor, 8 GB of RAM, 64 bit operatings system, and I believe the graphics card is the AMD Radeon HD 8570D
Just as a note, everything was working fine until I started the computer this morning
I have had this problem a few times for different reasons. Corrrupt save on Skyrim, I just used the previous save. Downloaded DS4Windows and every time I started a game with my controller the game would crash, I deleated DS4 and reinstalled. Once on my Linux rig, I didn't watch my updates and I had to reinstall the propritary GPU drivers. I don't know if this will help but I'ts whats happened to me.

I figured out what the problem with my computer was. I don't know if anyone uses Discord (a group messaging application) but I have both the standard Discord application and the Beta Version installed and set to start up when I turn on my PC and I guess the beta version added a feature that conflicted with the standard version and caused my games to crash. Idk if this helps anyone, but I just wanted to put it out there
This issue is new and has something to do with newly updated clientel, I have had it and now have it again as well and it seems to have something to do with newly updated drivers and/or software as steam was working fine after I did a machine reroll. My best suggestion is that you do a reroll and prepare yourself to do it often the next few weeks as steam support is laughable and client updates are far apart.

Upon further investigation I've come to see some connection between the Discord PTB app and the crashing of games as well as applications. So like ClassyDragon says I suggest you use the regulare version of Discord and not the PTB as it seems to be the source of the problem.

It wasn't as much a problem with the PTB as it was a problem with having both the PTB and the regular version open at the same time. As soon as I had only one of them opened, the problem went away.
My only game that isent working is Take on Mars
I had the same problem until I figured out it was Windows 10 I went baqck to Windows 8.1 and everything is ok
