So,, through a lot of headaches i finally managed to solve my issue with dota 2 workhshop downloads. There are 2 cases. Case 1 is simple, and the solution you can find anywhere on net.
Case1: Only 1 account has logged through your pc.
Solution: Right click your dota 2 in steam, go to "view donwloadable contents" and uncheck the Dota 2 workshop DLC
Unsubscribe all the dota 2 custom games. You can do that in game by uninstalling through Dota 2, or from browser by going into profile -> workshop items
If that solved the issue, I would still suggest to do the next step. It'll delete all the residual files of custom games that are left at your pc. Mine was 3.5gb. So, go to this path, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop
(your path might slightly differ - but basically go to your steam directory). There you can remove all the files from download that say 570. Next, go to above path /content/570/
Here you'll be able to see all the custom games - which you can delete. If you want to keep some specific custom games, inside those folders you can see a file, publlsh_data.txt, open it and read the custom game name there.
Case 2: At least 2 accounts have logged through your pc
Solution: You all will have to Uncheck the Dota 2 workshop DLC in downloadable contents
You all will have to unsub the custom games
Also go through that last step I mentioned in above case to remove all workshop custom game files and pending download files.
and finally, sometimes there are situations where you cannot unsub those custom games since those accounts but it's your friend's accounts who for any of the various reasons had to be logged through your pc.
In this case, you'll have to remove their profile from your pc. Go to this path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata
Here you'll see the profile numbers (aka friend ids) of all the players that logged through your steam. Those numbers can be found in dota game by clicking your profile - and at top right under "friend id" number - you can see your profile number. Basically find all the profile numbers that you want to keep (and have unsubscribed custom games) and delete the rest or rename them into something else so that those profiles don't get used by steam till you want them to (and then rename it back).
thanks this worked for me.
