Why does Steam resume downloads when I start any game?

I even have "Allow download during gameplay" unchecked. Paused downloads start everytime I start a game from my library.

"unchecked" disallows downloads while playing and will pause any Steam downloads.

CHECK IT and the issue goes away.

do u click on that download once you load up the game as that can resume the download

I think you misunderstood my problem. I don't want the downloads to run when i play. I pause them beforehand, and they resume automatically.

I don't click on any downloads. I startet to notice when i had really high ping ingame and searched for the cause. The I saw that steam was downloading in the background.

Tip when u want to downloud while gaming just lauch ure game alt tab to ure steam page go to ure downloud and press resume and done

You may have found a programming error dealing with he toggling of that option.


Try setting it to pause downloads automatically and DO NOT pause anything manually.


Please let me know, I *may* be able to exdpidite a fix if we can narrow it down a little.

Alright, so I set the time for auto-downloading to early in the morning, so it won't start the downloads automatically. Now I can start games without downloads resuming. My guess is that it only happens for downloads that are queued.
