Wired Xbox 360 Controller, help me please!
I'm using a wired Rock Candy Xbox 360 controller, and using Windows 7. I've been using the controller for months and had no problems at all. Now the controller won't turn on, and the laptop won't recognize that it's plugged in, at least not that I can find. The ring around the guide button lights up for a second upon plugging it in. I've tried to hold in the guide button to turn it on. I've tried shutting down my laptop and turning it back on. I tried to look in my device manager to see if I might've accidentally just disabled it somehow, but it didn't show up there at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty far into The Last Remnant, and wtf are those keyboard controls?

Also, on an unrelated note the past two or three days Steam won't close after exiting a game, claiming that the game is still running, even though my task manager has no processes for the game working, I've been ending the process for steam in my task manager to close it, but can't get it to close any other way. Is this a problem that anyone else has been having?

Ugh... I tried to use it on another computer and that didn't work, but like... rockcandy controllers are weird and I had to go through hell to install it on this computer in the first place. So I didn't figure it would. lawl. I just don't understand why it stopped working for no reason, after working for so well for so long. Especially since I haven't done or changed anything on my laptop... like period.

As suggested, try updating your driver at
https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-au/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows
Then (if you allowed a start menu shortcut/folder) open the folder 'Microsoft XBox 360 Accessories', and open the program 'Microsoft XBox 360 Accessories Status'. Plug your controller in and see how you go.

Regarding steam not closing properly, have you been closing the game in an unusal way? Do you exit the game, return to steam, and then close steam, or do you try close both in one go?

I'd suggest also maybe trying it in a 360 system if you have one available, I'd imagine it should work fine on that. Try a different usb port too, if you haven't already. Just a note for future if it isn't easy to install I suggest you return it. Most controllers I've had some off brand $10 controller I bought worked for a year but wasn't built well so the rubber inside the controller wore out. I just had to plug it in and good to go.
