Steam sales I get emails about, exist on internet ... just aren't there in Steam App

This one is driving me batty! I am receiving emails from Steam telling me about these specials and sales on games on my wishlist. Okay, so I click the link and it brings up the Steam webpage for that game, and, though I am not logged-in, sure enough, the discount is there. So, I log into Steam.

And the discount isn't there. In fact, I don't think I have seen a sale on Steam since the beginning of the year. And it is driving me a little bananas.

Is this some form of broken link between my copy of Steam on this machine and the internet Steam? Am I being punished for something I did? Like Am I being locked-out of steam sales because I failed to press the buy button those New Year's Sale games in my shopping cart? (They've since mysteriously disappeared.) Is this a form of punishment, is what I'm asking?

Or am I being Gas-lighted???

tl;dr I get personalised emails telling me about sales, sure enough on the steam site -- steampowered.com, not a spoof site -- they're there, but I log into the Steam app and there's no sale anymore, just regular old Steam. Help.

it's regionalization. not all sales will exist for all regions.

I've just noticed a lot of games in the special offers tab don't have the green discount tag. I was just about to buy The Deadly Tower of Monsters which was discounted and when I added it to the cart the discount disappeared. Something weird is going on

Same. The sales are not consistently showing up. If I hit refresh enough it shows as on sale on the special page, but the store page for the game isn't showing it on sale.

Jusrt checked the specials tab. Now none of the discounts are showing at all. WTF Steam.

OP: if this has been happening to you for weeks now, it's more likely to be the regionalization fluxtorrent mentioned. but there's definitely something else/more going on today--i just lost discount price on all 13 items in my Cart, and even after logging out and back in, the Midweek Madness items and nearly everything listed under the 'Specials' tab are showing full price only.

Most common things about "false" discounts
1. It can be regional (so - no available at your region)
2. It can be discounted only as a part of a bundle.
For example - Anna's quest shows as discounted in my wishlist. But game itself is full priced, and 75% - discount on Daedalic bundle, including this game.

I accept that stuff can be regional, but then WHY would it be emailed to me?! That's just weird. They know where I live. They know what country I'm in. Why tell me about discounts that don't apply to me?

And, yes, I ALSO had the same problem with Deadly Tower of Monsters, the discount was there on the Steam Store front-page (using the app to look), but not on the game, but then I go back and *poof* the game is no longer listed on the front-page and all those that are now DO have the discount showing on the game pages.

This ... is ... freaking ... weird ...

PS to Steam; Dudes, the next time you move my discussion, seriously, DO NOT give me a notification that the discussion has been moved or deleted and NOT provide a link to where it is now. That's just dopey. And when I click on "My replies" link or whatever it was, and then on my thread, don't take me to the discussion board, take me TO my thread.
