can't use group voice chat

Recently I updated my router firmware and since then I can't talk to people on a group chat using voice. my voice chat activates and then their chat icon on the side has a red line through it as if they were muted but they can hear each other but not me and I can't hear them.
Any help in resolving this issue would help greatly.

Similar thing is happening to me today. When starting voice chat in a group chat, the loading wheel next to other people's names runs for a long time, and then just goes to the grey speaker icon with a red line through it. I can't hear them and they can't hear me.

"Test microphone" in voice settings works just fine. In-game voice chats work fine. Steam voice chat in a conversation with just one other person works fine. Just group voice chat is broken.

Problem persists through creating a new group chat, and a complete shutdown/reboot of the computer.

Haven't changed router firmware so idk what the cause is.

I fixed it recently where I had two instances running on two different PCs at the same time I shut one of the steam instances down and now group chat works. Hope it works out for you as well/
