[BUG] Steam constantly changes status from Away to Online

This has been going on for several years now so it seems Valve is completely unaware of it (not sure how that's possible, so maybe it's just being ignored). I put my status to Away, and it happens all the time that when I come back to the computer, I'm Online. This often happens 3-4 times a day, which is completely unacceptable.

Can you please fix this so that when I put my status as Away it actually stays locked that way until I change it to something else MYSELF. I'm tired of this useless feature not working properly, year after year, when it should be so simple. I don't like it when Valve screws with my social life because people think I ignore them when it clearly states that I'm online when I'm actually not.

Your actually the first that has this problem. Normally that only happens if you are mobile. Still check your Internet. Maybe it has drops randomly.

It's not my Internet. I'm an educated network technician and I'm 100% sure. If anything it's Steam's service in that case.

No matter, this still shouldn't be happening. Even if there's a microloss of connection then they need to program Steam not to reset your status when it happens.

Besides, how would you know that I'm the only one this is happening for? I often see friends on my list that have been offline for various amounts of time, then suddenly, several times a week, ALL of their "last online" times change to the exact same time stamp. This is Steam.

Additionally, several people may be Away on my list at the same time as me, then suddenly, all of us appear online. Again, this is Steam.

Is this ever being fixed, or is this "working as intended" according to Valve? Using "away" is completely useless if people are being put "online" automatically every day anyway.

For the love of everything, Valve, Steam, fix this problem for flakes sake! The problem is that you keep restarting or resetting your damn servers constantly which puts everyone back to "Online" every single time as well as resetting their "Last online" timestamp. How hard can it be to program Steam Friends to RETAIN the status until you change it yourself? Come on! Also saving the timestamps really can't be that hard you guys.

Yesterday you changed my status to Online twice in roughly an hour, and now you just did it again. Stop messing with my online social life ffs! This is so very annoying!

... aaand Steam has done it again. For the past 4 hours now I've been set to "online" automatically by Steam. I've received several messages while I've been away and my friends probably believe I ignored them since I was "online." How do I know it was 4 hours ago? Because all of my offline friends' last time stamp is set at 4 hours ago, which, I repeat, is what happens when you restart your server or whatever it is that you do.

Steam, I wanna hit you in the face. Please fix this for crying out loud!
