It's not that I am too scared, I am willing to take risks. But I read a lot of threads about this. Some say ''Yes, you can get VAC banned'' and other say ''I am using this for 3 years, no problems ever.'' I want a definitely answer, not 50/50.
He had to make a new account and repurchase his games.
I play dota2 and csgo which has vac servers and running 15 games at the same time using idle master. I make games run at 2 hours before i solo idle it and I never got vac banned even when playing on VAC servers.
It was probably hacks.
See? That is what I mean, this guy says his cousin got VAC banned.
I have tf2 and csgo and no VAC ban so far
Also VAC only applies for Valve games so if you want to be extra safe
Dont use it collect csgo or valve cards and there should be no problem
Its probably ok but anything can happen lel
His cousin may not have wanted to admit he actually cheated. He himself may feel that using steam idle master is wrong and be lying to scare you into avoiding it. Or be trolling just because he enjoys that. There's no way to tell.
If you want to play it safe-ish: don't use it on games that use VAC. Delete it from your computer before launching a VAC protected game. That's what I did and haven't been VAC banned yet.
If I use it on all games, including VAC games, but I am not playing anything, just watching movies or something, would that be a risk too?
As far as we know Idle Master hasn't cause any kind of ban, however consider this:
• Is Valve able find out who's using IM to farm cards? Very likely.
• Will Valve take action against these users? We don't know. But they indeed did way back with Team Fortress 2.
...so, your call.
Idle Master simply starts and ends a program and is not manipulating the file, nothing that would trigger a VAC ban.
I'd just like to weigh in here.
As people have mentioned Idle Master doesn't really run the game which in turn means that the VAC modules are never loaded, which means that you can't be VAC banned for running Idle Master.
However, there is the possibility that S.I.M is tagged as a cheat by Valve, which would mean that anyone running it at the same time as running a VAC secured game and being connected to a VAC secured server would be banned. At the moment there are no confirmed instances of people being VAC banned for using it while connected to secure servers.
I'd like to point out the situation here is a little different.
In a normal user's setup it isn't possible to run multiple instances of Team Fortress 2 across multiple accounts on the same computer at the same time, which is effectively what the sandbox idling tool did (which people were punished for using). It also faked being connected to a server, not just being in game.
S.I.M fakes being in game, not being in a server. It also cannot be used by multiple Steam accounts at the same time. It also doesn't increase your drop rate chance in any way or allow you to get drops for games you don't own. While it isn't officially supported by Valve, it is unlikely (at least in my opinion) that they will start handing out bans for it. And even if they did start banning people, it wouldn't be a VAC ban. It'd be an account/community ban probably.
