AVG prevented me from running Steam properly!!!!
After I played a game for few hours, AVG suddenly popped up that steam.exe or steamwebhelper.exe or something like that complained of General Behavioral Detection. Thus Steam is now becoming almost unstable where I couldn't go to my profile page and then the Steam Store. Is it me or is AVG trying to betray me?

Antivurs programs don't play nice with steam, period.
Also when I tried to exclude that program, it gave me an error on AVG's part.

Have you turned off avg and see if that fixed the problem
I just want to keep an antivirus on for the sake of my computer's security to prevent my computer from spreading viruses.

I've run AVG for years w/steam and have never had a problem with it.
same but AVG is now really preventing me from playing video games on the PC.

Unless you are opening files outside of the game from untrusted sources or browsing xxx sites while playing games I'd actually recommend turning it off for performance reasons anyways.

Technically I switched to Avira because Avira doesn't have false positives to prevent me from using Steam or any other third party games. I looked at the rating for AVG it says it's rated 7/10 according to this source:

The free version of bitdefender should end your drama if you feel like switching.

You can set exceptions (items that AVG will ignore) for steam or any other file/folder/url. You can do that under advanced options in AVG.
^ Actually it can't, even though I set exception to the Steam folder, it gave me a freaking warning about General Behavioral Detection and cause Steam to lag even more.
