Are the games on steam safe to download?

so i just tried to ask this question but my thread was moved to a games forum.

this is a generic question about steam.

are the games/software here checked out at all before being offered to us to download? or are we the guinea pigs?

i ask because i downloaded a game and it does not work and i looked on forum and it does not appear it works for anyone.

what it does look like is some malicious invasive monster that must be manualy shut down in processes.

so did i just let Kim Jong-un into my computer? or is the stuff here ok?

Interesting. Before greenlight, I'd say things were screened for malicious software. After greenlight, I'm not entirely sure Valve looks at things released on Steam.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure titles from large publishers also do some malicious spying on you anyway. Your data is valuable to everyone. Enjoy Windows 10 BTW. ;-)

i made the "10" mistake, and went back to 7 .. keep startup native clean and keep a sharp eye on processes in config .. not real keen on stuff goin on without my permission hehe

Games sold on Steam would be kept in servers which are properly protected, no risk for a virus. If the game is early access, it could have bugs. If your computer doesn't meet the system requirements for the game you could experience bugs and errors.
