Person Is Making Money From My Content
Hello I am the original owner of a Don't Starve mod, "Steve the Miner" that was released before the Steam workshop for Don't Starve and then republished, both by accounts owned by myself. Now a foreign YouTuber is making money by linking to an edited version of my mod with the same artwork and coding that I worked for a week on, and he is making money for each click (I estimate he is up to at least $25). I am wondering what else I should do to stop this, as the companies I've contacted have not helped. Keep in mind I do not speak Spanish so I do not know what he is saying in the video and I do not know if he is giving me credit in any form, but that doesn't make it allowed. You cannot simply say "Credit to the owner" and then make money off of their content, there are copyright laws to prevent this. I am not asking to make any money from this mod, I just want the money to stop being given to the person, and for this I need a DMCA notice, apparently.

I contacted Steam, adfly, mediafire, and YouTube without any response willing to help. The only non automated response was from adly saying I'd need a DMCA notice from Steam, and I'm not sure steam is willing to give it.

I will comment with any extra information if anyone has a question. It is my fifth time typing this and each time is a little bit less specific due to the stress of it all.

Have you contacted the person who created the video?

If you were the creator of the workshop mod, you can issue the DMCA notice, since you are the copyright holder (Steam is just licensed to use it).
"Hi,

In order to remove any AdF.ly links, we do require an official DMCA
notice from either the copyright holder or an organization legally
allowed to represent them.

The DMCA must include full company details of the copyright holder
(and the organization reporting), also the legal declaration.

Please send it through to:

abuse@adf.ly

Kind Regards,"

Adfly told me this. What exactly do I respond with? I have no knowledge of what the legal declaration and company details are, as I do not own a company. Am I listing Steam?
No, Steam is not the company that owns the copyright of that content.
Steam is not even a company. It's a software. The company is called Valve. They don't own the copyright either.
Not really answering my question but thanks anyway :/

You're screwed, I mean, we are talking about the Internet here. That's why its best to copyright any content you create if you don't want to see it get abused.

Sure it might cost a lot of money, but it all depends whether or not you really care about your stuff going around, especially if someone finds a way to exploit it financially.

Adfly has a DMCA form you should fill out. You can find a link on their website. The URL is blocked here but on their main site, look at the bottom click "DMCA". Then at the bottom of that page is both an email, and a link to a web form you can fill out.

Simply fill in the details. Use your own name and address. Then provide proof you are the copyright holder. those links and other proof will be necssary to submit to adfly

Note that copyright does not require a corporation as all copyright is bestowed upon you when something is created automatically.

You will have to basically in the legal part tha you are the copyright holder and that the infringing link is not authoirzed by you.

You can also contact those link farms to have them remove your content as well

Copyright is AUTOMATICALLY given to you when you create any work.

You're thinking of trademarks which are entirely different.

Either way, it's outside of Steam's jurisdiction and pirates couldn't care less.

This is patently false.

Copyright is taken very seriously and infringments will be removed
You blatantly admit to ripping off Minecraft for your mod and then ♥♥♥♥♥ when someone's ripping you off? LOL

This isn't some expensive skin, nor even a video game. If Valve actually does do something, by the time it'll take to process it, the guy would've made a large sum of money.

To get those three companies to cooperate together will take ages, HL3 has a higher chance of coming out than that.

inb4-> OP should just give up

No such management MOD copyright website?
I did not need all three companies to come together. If Adfly helps me out then the links to the content will be removed and even if he distributes alternative links to my content, it is fine as long as he does not make money. If the site that adfly links to shuts down the content then the adfly links will not work and he will not make money, so I will also be fine with that. If Steam helped me to make a DMCA notice then it would speed up the adfly action but luckily, with the help of you guys I found out how to fill out my own DMCA notice and I am confirming it with my uncle that currently works as a lawyer (of what kind of lawyer I do not know but he certainly knows more than I do)

I appreciate all the help but I promise you that I am not going to give up, Seth
If you want some other mod , whether or not a character ,
I leave it in the comments.
