Steam java update?

hey, today i logged onto steam and instead of being greeted by the regular store page, i was shown what appeared to be a "required java update". have i stumbled across a virus infecting steam or is this a legitimate update? i can still access my library but the store and any other online tab show me the same page. I am always wary when updating java as there are many viruses that disguise themselves as java and i want to use steam again
