Downloading game from mac then copying to pc?

Hi all
So I'm buying a macbook pro for uni, and I was wondering if I could download steam games then transfer to my gaming desktop. And if it does work, do I they need to be compatible to play with apple computers to copy over?
I've seen a few threads on this topic but they all seem to be from 2010 and was just checking to see if they are still relevant :) apologies if this question is continuously asked.

If you want to play games on your mac you can install steam on it and download any mac game you own. You can't just copy windows games.

You could install windows somehow and then install steam again and then run windows games, i think macs can do that without much trouble.
Google for "boot camp"

Check the store pages to see if a game runs on mac, also check what hardware you need.

Your steam library will have them saved. When you get your pc, you can download steam, and then download all of your steam games on your pc.

Not really feasible as those game versions can differ a lot. Software architecture of Windows and Mac OS X is very, very, different.

no its not to play on my mac, would be to download games on it then copy them to my gaming PC, as the internet in my uni is excellent but terrible in my flat. so would be ideal to be able to download games at uni then copy them to my pc i know you can do this from one pc to another but wanted to know if this was possible from mac to pc :)

You will probably need a windows version of steam to do that, if you install windows on that macbook via boot camp or something it should work. Files are pretty different, maybe you could find some common files in the mac versions and download the rest? Windows is the safe option.

Which part?

Copying a windows game from one steam installation to another definitely works.

The second part could work for 99% of the files or not at all, depends on the game.

haha sorry i made this a long time ago now, but I've finally got my mac and was trying out what you told me here, and I'm basically stuck on the login. I'm sure its my right username and password but its still saying this:

Logging in user '<adamisky1345>' to Steam Public...Login Failure: Invalid Password
FAILED with result code 5

i tried disabling my steam guard thing incase it was that interfering with it, but have i done something wrong? maybe its asking for a different account that i don't have? an account with this SteamCMD maybe?

Edit: OK! I've got past that problem! i didn't realise you didn't need the <> signs :P but now I've got another problem. so i want to instal the game a folder called Games in my Documents, how to i wright that down as my "PATH"? and also how do i find out what the <app-ID> code is?
