Big picture mode crashes steam when starting. please help asap
I today noticed, that when I start up my BPM my Steam crashes. No error message no nothing. I tried reinstalling my drivers/steam, didnt really help the situation... Does anyone know anything that solves this issue? It would be pretty stupid if BPM wont work on my PC anymore, I just bought a Steam Link (which is just working with Steam Big Picture)...
If you know anything that could help please go ahead and share it with me

Specs:
- intel core i7
- win 10
- 8 GB ram
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 ti

Maybe you need a clean install of the os.sometimes os gets buggies as a result of updates, driver conflict...

I may try that, but I don't really think the problem is the OS, it's more likely some graphics drivers problem. On my brothers pc everything works flawlessly and he got win 10 aswell (but no Nvidia graphics card)...
Thank you for your advice anyways :)

Especially if you migrate from 7,8 to 10 via update windows on task bar window ... Go to m$ page download Windows 10 update tool, get USB with 4 gb or more and from options click on this windows will be used on this pc if you run the program from your pc.I have same problem with one notebook that came to me for fixing.
Ps if you recently received the new windows update wich is like service pack it's get that problems too...only clean install and now is just fine

Same problem here. Was trying to setup my new steam controller. Says I need to switch to BPM to update firmware, but BPM crashes almost immediately. I've opted into the Steam Update Beta with the same result. Haven't tried reinstalling steam or rolling back drivers yet.

Windows 10 (clean install)
Radeon HD 280x 3GB (just clean installed newest drivers)
AMD Phenom II x4 B55 3.5 Ghz
8GB RAM

somehow fixed it. go create a shortcut on your desktop to steam and just put -tenfoot behind it, it should look like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -tenfoot .
This shortcut allows you to boot Steam in BPM. After you started it close it again, and start steam normally and hopefully youll be able to lauch BPM normally again.

Nope, still no joy here. Uninstalling video drivers and letting windows install didn't help either. Uninstalling Steam now.

I SOLVED a version of this problem for myself.

This started happening to me today and it was working fine for me yesterday. For me, BPM would either immediately crash on start up, or navigating steam while BPM was engaged. I thought at what I changed in the past 24 hours.

This morning I had added files to my Steam Music folder. After removing the directory I added [My music folder on my secondary E Drive], and hitting the "RESET DATABASE" button in my Steam Settings under the music tab, it stopped crashing in Big Picture Mode.

Though this fixed the problem, I would still love to treat steam like a media center and it would be great if I could add music without it crashing.

Issue is finally resolved here with the recent beta updates. If you haven't tried in a while, make sure you're fully updated and try it again. Might be working now.

sad to hear this still is an issue for some people. Im not very keen on using a macbook so im sorry I cant really help, trying to recreate what i did might be the best thing to do, since I dont know if you even can install/reinstall graphics drivers on a macbook.
Good luck man

I dont seem to get my xbox controller working, but I highly reccomend playing csgo with mouse and keyboard, since its way more accurate and faster (and everyone else uses it). Why give oneself a disadvantage if you can play the optimal way

I mean, you are indeed right and I should not give myself a disadvantage but, with the controler I play a lot better. The reason I really use the controler is because of my reaction time and senstivty is really annoying when I use my mouse and I don't have a mouse pad, which makes everything worse.... That's why I'am trying to get my ps3 controller run the game so I can aim and shoot better. I hope you can get your xbox controler to work, there are some applications that run it on pc. Hope you figure it out soon ^^

This is very random but maybe it it will help someone else. I use Big Picture, and mirror my display to to a second monitor. I also go in and change my audio device to the the HDMI output instead of the normal out. If I change the the default audio device to HDMI first, then it freezes. If I load up Big Picture THEN change the the audio device, it loads fine. Hope it helps you guys. PS. I used the the a lot. Did you notice?
