How safe is SAM?

I´m interested in the Program called SAM*. But after looking up what it exactly does and how legal it is, i´ve realized that some forums/users say that its safe, some others gurantee a VAC ban.
I wouldn´t use it for VAC Games (TF2, CSGO) anyways, just to idle farm cards and maybe complete Achievements like "Play a whole Tuesday" (Stanley Parable) since i neither want to play nor idle more than 24hrs or leaving my pc on for that amount of time.
Now, maybe even a Mod could help and say what Valve´s opinion on this program-

I think you could just set Windows's time?

I wouldn't recommend using SAM.

Sammy'll get VAC banned if you join a VAC protected server with it running for any reason, particularly forgetting to close it ahead of time.

I don't know then you'll probs be 2 achievement short, there are some scummy achievmenets out there.

yeah...im downloading tf2 atm, first vac protected game i have, so i dont wanna run that sucker while Sam is doing its job

Yeah, you forgot to include "or with people who already have that achievement" It's one of the easiest to get.

Still, there's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievements out there and even unachieveable ones, the point of achievements shouldn't be this.

Not really sure if it's allowed to use SAM to edit game information, but you won't get any respect from the community by unlocking 500 achievements in 1 min.
