your intel 4000 is just really bad.
consider buying a video card you only have onboard video now.

feel free to google the power of your intel HD4000

gamers avoid intel video for 15 years or more now.
the HD4400 is a lot better but still not good.

Most onboard GPU's aren't really made for "intensive gaming" (in terms of performance and graphic details).

Take a look at the System Requirements of The Forest.

not at maximum quality

Not only is the integrated graphics bad, but ya that cpu is waaay bad too. That computer is *not* meant to be a gaming computer at all.

You do not even meet the bare minimum requirements for The Forest.
If you compare The Forest and Garry's Mod's requirements you will see The Forest's are quite a bit higher than Gmod's. Sooo.. if you can run Gmod at medium, you can imagine at best you can play The Forest on some sort of uber-low graphic settings, maaaaybe.. if you're lucky.

But the game's requirements suggest you may not even be able to do that.

Since its a laptop youre probably gonna need to buy a new PC. A low-power laptop i3 and hd graphics cant run that above 30fps

Not at max quality, that's an understatement if i ever heard one? If a far less demanding game like Gmod can only be run on the OP's computer at medium.. then The Forest is going to be only able to be played at *low*.. if that.

The OP's computer is *below* the minimum requirement's of The Forest's cpu requirement.. it's below the graphic requirement.. and it's possibly even below the ram requirement. Yes the ram appears the same but as the "additional notes" on The Forest's page says.. if you have a 32bit system and only 4GB of ram, some 32bit systems can't use 4GB of ram even if 4GB of ram are *installed* in the computer.

Since has U in the name of the CPU means he is on laptop. He cannot upgrade. Actually he can add a external GPU trough a certain device but those + a GPU are so expensive that is better to buy a whole machine.

The whole idea is that folks, stop buying laptops if you want to play normal games.
