Steam will not display anything that it needs to use the built-in browser for.
I am unable to view anything that involves connecting to the internet. The entire client is essentially broken, the only page which loads are the settings for the steam client and the library. Everything else, including the community tab, store (I can't buy any games that I want!), and friends interface do not work (although I can message friends and see when they come online, just not view their profiles or add new ones).

I am aware that there are several issues to fix this and please understand that I have done the following steps as recommended on the support site:
1. Write down your Steam Account name and password - you will need them to log back into Steam once you have reinstalled
2. Logout of Steam
3. Exit Steam
4. If you currently have any Steam games installed that you would like to keep, please copy the Steamapps folder from C:\Program Files\Steam to your desktop or another directory.
5. Delete the Steam folder in the default location C:\Program Files\Steam
6. Hit windows key + r ( run at the start menu ) and type regedit
7. Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve (or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve on 64-bit Windows)
8. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from the following link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Windows_In...ity_d4459.html
9. Run Windows Install Clean Up from the Start menu.
10. Select Steam from the list. The list is only partially in alphabetical order, so be sure to check carefully.
11. Select Remove.
12. Select OK.
13. Reboot your computer.
14. Download and install a fresh copy of the Steam installer from http://store.steampowered.com/about/
15. Run the installer and re-test the Steam client.

I completed these steps but it was to no avail.

If I go to the steam website in google chrome everything works fine.

Additional information: in big picture mode, everything except for the web browser loads fine. I assume this means there is only a problem with the browser. I believe there is something wrong with my windows internet explorer, the browser that I believe the steam client runs on. I refreshed all settings in internet explorer to default and this did not work as well. I have restarted my computer several times. I cannot recall exactly when this issue started but it has been going on for about 3 months now, around the same time as that reddit thread. I am not entirely sure what to do to fix it but please help!

Whenever I try to load anything that needs the browser (such as the store, community, or even looking at items in my inventory) all i see is a black screen with the loading in the top right (that never ever loads). I know for a fact it is not my router because I have tried other places with different routers with the computer, and I get the same error. I submitted a support ticket to steam which looks almost exactly like this but it has been more than a week and I have gotten no response. I think I have included all the information I can about this but if there is anything else that is important just ask.
This is getting too annoying to deal with, and I can't just keep using the steam store online.

I'm having the exact same problems with the added fact that some of my games now no longer work, they're now coming up with error 51 and 3:0000065432 also have my own thread up
http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/458604254441793435/ with two others having this problem but no responses for about 15 hours and i have a steam ticket up for 36 hours with no response. I can't have it down for three months or more not playing fallout 4 or new vegas or any of my witcher games :(

DL CCleaner from official site http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds ONLY - on thrid party sites you may get adware and spyware.
and use portable version without adware in installer.

this problem possible related to HW acceleration in steam browser.

I have CCleaner already installed, I did however try your solution by unintsalling and re-downloading the portable version, it didn't make a difference . Thanks though Seven7

This problem is rare, and has no lasting solution. Someone say it's incompatible with the video card and / or driver, someone helped off support for hardware renderer, to other - the switch to the beta version of the Steam client, somewhere there was a theme how switch client to the developer mode and switch off hardware support, but I can not find it :steamsad:

+ since, as a client switched to CEF problems on computers, that have already installed browser based on Chromium, began to appear regularly on the forum

I have CCleaner and have run it, you also did not say what to clean with it.
Also, Seven you don't make much sense.. What are you saying is the solution to fix this? The steam browser had worked on this computer in the past and I had not done anything but I may have changed some settings on my computer for internet explorer, i can't remember.
It is not my video card, because it just cannot display the browser.

unfortunately, through a series of massive mistakes, i had to reinstall windows from scratch and that seems to have fixed my problem. As solutions go it's crap and a little extreme but at least it's working again i suppose

just use store steampowered in your favorite browser. No need to use the built in one

Yes there is, I cannot use almost any of the features through the steam client. I cannot add friends through there and cannot look at game reviews through it. The client is a thing for a reason and it's not working for me at all.

This is a workaround more than a fix (can't promise it won't cause other problems), but try this in your Steam client command line:

-no-cef-sandbox

Thank you, Tal. I ran out of options and had to use your workaround. My Steam browser stopped working today. I reinstalled Steam, cleared cache and cookies, deleted the cache folders completely... I did not want to delete my entire library of 1 TB of installed games.
