Unable to play DVDs on Windows 10
As the title indicates, I am unable to play DVDs and I am running on Windows 10. This is my first time actually trying to play a dvd with my computer. I should note that 10 does come with DVD software but nothing happens when I insert a disc.

Any idea what the issue may be?

Okay so I connected the cable to my motherboard and now the DVD drive is recognized in the device manager.

This is odd. I can play music CDs but DVDs won't work...

The disc drive makes weird noises when I insert DVDs. I have no clue what is going on.

When I try to "open disc" using the VLC player it immediately stops responding.

Not even the included Windows DVD player works. This is infuriating.

There's no such thing as an "Included Windows DVD player" on Windows 10. So what player do you mean?

If you bothered to inform yourself you'd know there is. If you were one of the people who upgraded from 7 right away you should have gotten it, otherwise Microsoft charges like $15 bucks for it in the app store. It is called the "Windows DVD Player".
Why you would use a inferior DVD player from Microsoft, when MPHC does the job far better and with MadVR support by which the quality is something what they will never achieve?
https://mpc-hc.org/downloads/ DL .zip For 64-bit (x64) Windows + Standalone Filters unzip into same folder (except .txt) => standalone player for all media

if your DVD drive broken - test it

Because I never had to download a third party program to get a movie to work. Things aren't as simple as they used to be clearly.
The inbuilt Media Player in Windows was never really capable, I pretty much used always only for audio.

MPHC retains its design but has tons of features. VLC isn't really recommended due bad picture quality, unless you have a very weak machine. I used it for a while, but when I spotted how full HD 10bit h264 anime looks trough VLC and how it looks trough MPHC + KCP, I never looked back. Anime fans are picky you know :selphinehappy:
