Not Receiving Steam Guard Code Via Email Fix-
(If this post is in the wrong place please feel free to move it or tell me where to re-post this, as this is my first discussion post. Thanks)

It seems that there are alot of people having issues with not receiving their steam guard codes to get into their accounts, so I decided that I would write this post to explain how I fixed this issue.

Note that everyone's issue is a bit different, some are able to log on through browsers, others are not. My fix may or may not work, but it's worth a try.

My issue: Got a new system for christmas, so I wiped my hard drive and reinstalled windows, steam, etc. As I went to log into my account, I was prompted with the "submit your special access code" dialog box (nothing out of the ordinary). However, I never recieved an email with my special access code. (After 24 Hours of Waiting) So, I was basically completely locked out of my account.

I tried logging in from the following places:

Steam Client

Internet Browser

Mobile Internet Browser - Worked 1 time but I logged out on accident and was locked out of steam afterwards (Wouldn't send me the access code)

Mobile Steam App

All of these places prompted me for a special access code, but none ever actually sent me an email. I also tried logging in to my 2nd steam account which is under a different email and the exact same issue occured.

Why I think this is happening: By no means am I a tech expert, but here is my theory. I think that when I try to log on, the client knows that this is a new computer, but steam's servers do not. So the client sends out a code request, but gets denied by steam's servers because the server already thinks that it is authenticated. Just a theory, but that's my thinking.

How I fixed the issue:

Step 1: To fix the issue, I had to log on from an entirely seperate computer's internet browser. Because it is coming from a completely new connection, it actually sent me an access code email. Now, if it sends you the email and you get in, DO NOT LOG OUT. You may lose your login priveledge on that machine unless you do the whole "remember this computer" thing. Just be careful.

Step 2: You have to fiddle with steam guard. I suggest you switch over to the mobile authenticator, that's how I was able to log back in to my account on my main computer. You can either turn steam guard off, or enable mobile authenticator. The mobile authenticator is actually quite useful, I would suggest getting it. Now that I have the mobile authenticator, I can log back in whenever and wherever because I always have access codes.

If you don't want the mobile authenticator, you may be able to get the email verification to work, but I wasn't able to reliably. It seems the mobile app might reset the emal verifaction, as I logged on to my 2nd account on the mobile app, received my access code, but did not turn mobile authentication on. I then tried logging on to my 2nd account on my main computer, and it sent my access code, and I was able to get on. It seems that the email verification is very finnicky, so again, I would HIGHLY suggest that you go the mobile authentication route.

Forgot to mention that if you turn Steam Guard off, you will not be able to use the market. If you turn it back on after turning it off, you have a 15 day cooldown to use the market.
