Xbox 360 Wired Controller won't work!!!! D:
So I got an Xbox 360 Wired Controller for windows AND Xbox, and I really wanna play something with it. However, after already running and installing what was on the disc (you know, the thing that allows the Xbox controller to work on PC) then plugging the controller in, the Home button would flash once, then nothing. I even tried opening my Device Manager and uninstalling then reinstalling. same result. It wouldn't download the device driver software no matter how many times I reinstalled, or restarted my PC. Please help this was a christmas present and I don't want it to go to waste .____.

Is the controller a Microsoft controller, or a third-party controller? Generally speaking Windows should recognize the controller when you plug it in, and automatically download the appropriate driver from Wndows update.

Does the game you are trying to use the controller with support controller input?

The game I'm trying to play it on is Skyrim, and since there's a "Use 360 Controller" option in the options, then I'm pretty sure I can use this controller on that game. As for the controller, it's a standard 360 wired controller, but it says on the box that it can be used for windows. Is the fact that my PC is 32bit have anything to do with this happening?

Also forgot to say this, but whenever it tries to download the device driver software, it says something like "Device driver download failed" or something like that. I know I'm connected to the internet and this hasn't happened before D:

Okay. Skyrim definitely works with the controller, and 32-bit or 64-bit should not matter. Try manually downloading the driver here (make sure you select the correct operating system):

I downloaded the file for 32bit on the link u sent, and restarted the computer. No dice :( I currently have the Microsoft 360 Accesory Status on which tells me how many controllers are connected right now. Currently, nothing is connected. Thanks for the effort, but do you have anything else that might work? Cuz right now I'm just uninstalling the device driver software that didn't get installed for my controller, unplugging it, then plugging it in again hoping for different results .____.

If the device is not being recognized at all, I would try a different USB port.

It gets recognized if I uninstall the device driver software for the controller, but after that none. Also I tried every port on this computer .___.
