VISA Gift Card won't purchase on Steam.
I'm keen to buy a some games while everything's on sale, but Steam is not allowing me to use my VISA Gift Card to purchase them.
I've ensured I have sufficient funds and all, so I'm not quite sure why I'm not able to purchase anything.

I keep getting this error message:
"Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company.

Note that in some cases, your credit card company may put a 'hold' on funds in your account, but you will not be charged. After correcting any errors in the information displayed below, please try your purchase again."

I've used gift cards like this before and have had no problem, so why is it not working now? I've followed the instructions of the card, but with no successes.

Any help will be appreciated.

1 ) Maybe the card is used
2 ) Since yesterday it looks like steam is working on some issues so i prefer you to wait for some hours or more

I have checked online that I have enough balance for the games that I want to purchase.
Hopefully waiting a few hours is all I need to do. Thanks! (:

Is the gift card the Vanilla VISA card? If so, you have to activate it on the vanilla card site too to verify.

Nope. It's a VISA Prepaid Gift Card. The instructions for online just say to use the card number, expiry date and CVV, using the name Gift Cardholder. But Steam also makes me enter an address which has no way of being linked to the card.

most gift cards have to be registed with a zip code or address to be used for online purchases... look for a web address on the back of the card and put in your info... you can make in-person purchases without doing this

the specific issue is that the billing address on the gift card is still set to default and doesnt match the one you have on file with steam or whatever online vendor you try to use

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, however I have used cards like these previously without needing to register them, which is why I am so confused now. The instructions for purchasing online do not mention anything about registering a zip code or address - it simply says to use the card number, expiry date and CVV.

Steam should have an option for gift cards when purchasing games, without the need for any addresses.

My brother has even used the exact same type of card recently to purchase games on Steam. Why isn't it letting me?

Contact the phone number or website on the back of the card, have them attach ALL your billing onfo to the card then wait 24 hours and try to use it again.

There is no billing info - it's a gift card. My brother used the exact same type of card (following the instructions of the card) and was able to purchase games. I'm confused as to why I'm not able to.

The billing info is your info (name adress, phone nuber etc...). Due to high credit card fraud, Steam will occassionally do what is considered a level 2 purchase verificatioin where the info you submit is compared to what the payment provider has on file.

There is nothing on file. It's a VISA Gift Card pruchased from a local post office. There is no requirement or way to link it to any of my details. But the thing is, my brother was able to purchase and I'm not, which is why I'm confused.

There is nothing on file.
Exactly that is the problem. You have to contact the card maker and tell them to attach your billing information.

Occasionally Steam will randomly decide on a more thorough verification of a payment method and that payment method will not be usable without the correct information submitted.

If you can't figure it out you could use it via PayPal or use it to buy a physical gift card

I've already tried using it via PayPal, but it comes up with this:
"Your purchase has not been completed.
The payment processor has reported a problem with the funding source associated with your account. Please select a different payment method or update your funding source with PayPal and try again."

Why can't Steam just have an option for different types of gift cards?
