Well, some strangers now might have: your full email, last digits of your phone number, credit card etc. They could have removed your credit card (or other payment method) etc. I didn't check what was possible during those hours but it was not "nothing" or "harmless". Even now I still get emails by some strangers who warn me that my account was visible to them... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

A DDoS attack would NOT cause the caching issue we saw. If anything it would prevent caching at all and take the Steam services down. Or you would be served stale information about your own account (not someone else's) if a service was under load and they had circuit breakers in place.

It was a mis configuration (here's a quote from Valve which was emailed to several websites. I got it off of PC Gamer): "As a result of a configuration change earlier today, a caching issue allowed some users to randomly see pages generated for other users for a period of less than an hour"
