If you're running Windows 10 the driver is already there but if you are running under Windows 10 you need to download the driver. Also, in my experience, not all micro USB wires work. I went through 4 different cables before I found one that would work. If you have Windows 10, it's plug and play.

So are you using windows 10?

Also when you say you are able to use the controller for most games, then the controller should be listed in your control panel > devices and printers. If you have the controller listed in this location (example; "wireless controller"), then right click the controller, select properties > hardware > properties > driver, then select "update driver".

I see, and you're able to play your other games with that same controller right now?

Also does the game that this is happening with say it has full controller support or partial support on the store page?

When was the last time you plugged in the controller to your pc? I don't have a Xbox one controller myself but I've heard they need firmware updates from time to time, either on a console or if you are using Windows 10 (which you are).

Also what's the game?
