gtx 980 vs r9 390
im planning on buying a new graphics card because my gtx 560 is getting old. Im torn between nvidia and amd. the amd is a lot cheaper, while the nvidia is better but not €150 better.
What do you think?

i recommend a gtx 970 as its not much below a 980 unless you get a 980 ti
im nvidia biased though and have not kept up on amd as have had driver issues throughout owning there products also if your just using a 1080 screen 970 should be able to drive most games above 60fps wont matter though if your not using a 120htz screen but shows that it will be good for a long while with current games

also if your using linux or plan on making a steam machine nvidia has good drivers for those platforms and the new nvidia cards sip power there the most power effient desktop cards right now

to be honest though it all comes down to money if you can get a nvidia card you will get better support and more goodies

amd on the other hand you get a little more power per dollar but bad drivers and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ support and not reallly any goodies other then vram but wont matter much if you just have a 1080 screen

like i said if you are talking about a 980 ti i would get that as it smacks the r9 390 if your talking about normal 980 and are using a 1080 monitor i would get a gtx 970 as it will perform amazing and from some benchmarks seems to do better then the r9 390 at lower res

would look into a 970 then as the power to price on them is great and bites at the heels of the r9 390 in benchmarks and in some actual over takes it and should be around 50 less depending on were you live the gtx 970 also uses way less power even when overclocked

The R9 390X is similar to the GTX 980 and can be found much cheaper.

€435

The R9 390 is more similar to the GTX 970. Make sure you have a beefy PSU for the 390X. It uses much more power than the 980.

as for the amd, im concerned about the drivers. but on the other hand, nvidia musnt get a graphics card monopoly cuz then we're screwed
NVIDIA has been having driver issues themselves. Just research drivers and only use ones people say are decent. You can go to the GeForce forum or some AMD forum and see people talking about these things. Don't update every time they release a new driver. If you aren't having any problems then stick to the driver you have. Don't fix what isn't broken.
960
