To earn xp you must craft badges, its not possible to earn it ,,fast". steamlvlup .com is good website for badges and lvling up if you are interesed. also big sales like winter sale and summer sale gives you drops of trading cards for exploring queue, which you can craft and earn badge.

You could start by finishing up the Community badge. Once you do nearly all the tasks it gives you 500xp which is enough for level 5 by itself.

To gain XP fast as possible, that be crafting badges from trading cards.


For earning some free badges you can earn couple,
1) Finish community leaders badge.
2) Gem badge you get for breaking a trading card, background, or emote from your Steam inventory.
3) Years of service this is just age of your account so as time goes on your badge level up.
4) Event badges they happen during certain events you have to check if Steam doing badge for said event, or not as they don't always do badge such as free trading cards can get during the event to craft a badge, or event badge such as voting, or taking part in mini game.

Now if you have Steam store points, you get those by spending money via Steam store, not the Steam market place as market place don't count. You can spend your store points to redeem seasonal badge.
