Steam does not fully recognize my PS5 controller.
Hello, I have a problem with the DualSense controller for the PS5. I bought the controller today to play games that support DualSense. The problem is that while the controller is recognized in Steam, it is not recognized "correctly."

Over the years, I have set up an old Xbox controller and an old PS4 controller in Steam. When you go to the store pages of games, I see the information "Your Xbox Controller" or "Your DualShock Controller" under controller support. However, when games explicitly support the DualSense controller, "DualSense controller" is displayed in blue and not in green.

This leads to me getting the Xbox button layout in games instead of the PS5 controller layout. I have attached a screenshot so you can see what I mean.

In the controller options in Steam, the PS5 controller is also recognized as such, and in games that are compatible with the old PS4 controller, I have absolutely no problems. However, as soon as I start games that are explicitly for the PS5 controller, I get an Xbox layout. Specifically, this concerns Throne & Liberty and the new EA Sports FC 25.
I updated the firmware on the controller, but that did not fix the problem.
Does anyone have an idea how I can get Steam to recognize that I have set up a PS5 controller?

Getting Xbox button layout is a Developer issue and not a Steam issue.

Sometimes you can get the button prompts to show up if you disable the Steam Input.

But some games just doesn't have the playstation button prompts. Which is a bit annoying.

Try disabling Steam input or look through the games option to see if you can change the button layout.

I did that yesterday. It leads to the game not recognizing any controller at all. What's strange is that on the shop pages of the games, my PS5 controller is not displayed as "your DualSense Controller" like my Xbox and PS4 controllers are.

Games need to support PS style prompts, even when they do you may need to disable Steam input and games only show PS style prompts when controller connected by cable not BT.

Fact is there is only a minority of games that have PS prompts. Take the time to get used to the XYAB prompts. Doesn't take that long, difficult one is the X as it looks like a Cross.
