Easy Anticheat Ban while Account was hacked
Heydiho Community.

Couple Months ago my Account got hacked, and since i was not active at that Time, i realised it like 2-3 Months later. After that it took me a while to get my Account back, because it was kinda hard to prove the Ownership. Anyways, after a while i got it back buuuut... the Person who had my Account did something ( no Idea what ) that got me banned in a Game ( Dead by Daylight ). There is no Reason given, its just "you are permanently banned blabla". I reached out to the Devs and explained my Situation. They told me they didnt banned me, its a EAC Ban. And thats why they could not help either and told me to reach out to EAC. I did so, but there is no Option to write something, its just kinda "Check if the Ban was deserved" Thing. Now i have e Mail from EAC saying "We have verified that the issued sanction is accurate and has not been mistakenly placed. It will remain in effect."

So, i get it, the Ban probably was accurate, which is fine. But it wasnt me causing it, as i said.. my Acc was hacked. Does somebody know if there is a Chance to reverse the Ban? Or at least to contact EAC where you also can explain yourself. Maybe somebody had the same Issue before.

Thanks in advance.

Take it to EAC, not Valve.

Be warned that EAC has the same zero tolerance policy as VAC: The account gets banned. It doesn't matter who used the account to cheat.

Also, don't rebuy the game on a new account. Some EAC games use HWID bans, you will be banned again unless you get a new PC.

It does not matter if it was you or not as they only care if the account was used to cheat and if that's the case here they will not do anything.

It falls on you to keep your account secure to prevent this as accounts with the 2fa enabled cannot be hacked and you should use that in the future.

I took it to EAC. Never contacted Valve. Do you maybe know how to Conract EAC where you can also write something, not just click on "check if its accurate"

Even if you could contact their support, they will tell you the same: YOU are responsible for your account and all actions on it. The ban will stay.

If EAC or any anti cheat would lift bans as a result of account theft, cheaters would abuse VPNs to mask it was them in order to get their account ban lifted due to (staged) theft.

Save yourself the time and give up. Appealing is futile.

Problem was, the Person hacking my Account actually hacked my Email Account, since everrything was changed ( Phone Number, Email, Country and Stuff ), To change the Email, you have to confirm it.. and therefor you get a Email to your already used Email. So i guess he had access to it to confirm it. And ye, now im using different Ways to login. Learned my Lesson kinda.

Even if i can prove it? Like still having the Emails i got from Steam while trying to get my Account back? i mean, Steam also can confirm the Account theft if i reach out to them again.

i recommend using sites like https://haveibeenpwned.com/ in the future to swiftly change credentials in case of a public breach.

Also, refrain from recycling passwords and use 2FA whereever possible.

Yes, their stance is 100% firm. Your account, your responsibility, your ban.

It was your negligience that allowed someone else to cheat, therefore the ban is legitimate.

You are responsible for the safety of your account, system and associated third party services like e-mail that are linked to it.

You can't prove it. To put it differently, you can't provide any proof that wouldn't be easy to fake. Staging a hijacked account is easy. Lifting bans based on easy-to-stage circumstances would massively punish people who want to play honestly and didn't make any mistakes. You've made a mistake, on the other hand.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
