How do punishments work?

hi, someone I know has said some innapropriate things in a game chat not protected by VAC. will he get banned because of that across steam and will he get an email notification? thanks

No.YOU have to ban him.I've had a few such jerks who just can't seem to play nice & respectfully.Every game has them.Steam doesn't automatically detect these guys.

wait so just to confirm he won't be banned across steam because we play a bunch of terraria together

VAC detects and bans only for cheats. Everything else needs to be manually reported. He still may get banned in that particular game if someone reported him, but it'll be a game ban not VAC ban.
