Steam Won’t let me log in PLEASE HELP
So I switched my pc over to a new one and my accounts are logged out. Thing is I don’t have the number on file anymore and I even sent them a message stating “ I don’t have that number anymore my number is ___ and I don’t have access to my steam guard code “ I didn’t know I had to write it down either and now I’m at max attempts to send support any information because they kept sending it to my old number. I’m just trying to sign in I have the password and email and even then username but I can’t get access to my account because of a number I no longer have? Again I told them email it or send it via my new number and it’s frustrating they would just block me from accessing my account when I have all the information minus the old number. Please someone explain what do I do at this point?

Already did this that’s what caused me to not be able to sign in. I found my code but now it’s saying it’s not valid? Wtf is steams support system

Earlier you said, you couldn't sign in because you've lost the phone#. Now you can't sign in because of that other thing.

Ok imma break it down better

1: I don’t have the number on my account anymore

2: My steam guard code doesn’t work even though it’s the only one I’ve had

3: at first I didn’t have the Steam Guard because I thought I didn’t take a screenshot or write it down but after looking through my phone I found it

4: When I try to get help for recovering my account because I don’t have the number on file and my steam guard code is invalid it continues to send SMS codes to the old number because it’s an automated messaging system.

5: I’m now unable to do anything for a few hours because I’ve sent in too many requests due to them not responding to my updates nor emaling me a solution or temp code ( idk if they can do that but it seems that’s the only way I could recover my account )

6: what’s frustrating about this is that I’ve entered my email for them to send recovery links to only for it to ask for the old number or the invalid steam guard code.



I’m not the best with explaining this stuff because it genuinely confuses me. So please have some patience with me my guy that’s as best to detailed I can get and as clear as I can be.

I should also mention it’s still letting me attempt a sign in but I can’t access anything cause it’s only allowing me to sign in by SMS codes or a Steam guard code I can’t access ( assuming they sent a new one) again I have my Username, Email, and password. I’m not sure why they’re forcing me to use SMS when I have the main information here as well as giving them more details to prove my identity. If this also didn’t make sense please lmk.

Couple things first:

1. It's clear that you have not followed the account recovery procedure. You're still keeping on hammering that REVOCATION code (or recovery code) that you later found. You also keep on hammering on those SMS code. The revocation code and the account recovery process are orthogonal, you can do those independantly. You throwing all of this into the same bucket doesn't help!

2. You need to slow down, take a deep breath and think about all of this in a structured, step-by-step manner. Yeah, I get it, this stuff looks complex at first (it isn't once you start understanding it) and you simply running ahead as fast as you can doesn't help. Trust me, going sloooooowwwwhhhhllllyyyyyy is a better way of dealing with such situations than what you're doing.

3. You need 3 (or so) attempts to get locked out of account recovery. Unsurprisingly, doing whatever you've just tried (and didn't work) again and again won't yield better results.

With all of that out of the way, let's start from the beginning. Are you logged into this very account right now, i.e. on your old PC? Because if you are, you can remove the mobile authenticator using that recovery code that you found.

So you are logged into THIS EXACT account on SOME device right now, yes?

If that's the case, simply open your account page on this device, open Steam guard settings & remove the mobile authenticator using that recovery code you've found.

Ok so.. i went through each step and what it says is

1:Steam guard: Add authenticator

2: after clicking add “ this account has steam guard enabled on another device “

3: clicked on move authenticator after it said “ An error occurred adding this account.
Please try again later.“

You aren't doing what I told you. I want you to open the account details page on the device you're logged onto. You're opening the Steam guard page, not the account details page.

Ok and I’m saying it takes me to a page to show me how to do it from the steam guard page. It loops, the only other thing that shows up Is to get backup codes ( can’t do cause it requires old phone number ) or to deactivate the account and I don’t think that last option is what will help. So there isn’t really anything I can do because what you’re asking of me I’ve already done before and it just does exactly what my previous message just said. So again it’s basically in a loop. It says I have a code, then it acts like I don’t have one and an error shows up.

I've just opened the account details page on the app on my phone. There's a button labeled verbatim "Manage Steam Guard" which takes me to a page containing a button labeled verbatim "Remove Authenticator". Press that button and have your recovery code handy.

Come to think of it, let's check a thing first. Before tapping that "Manage Steam Guard", there's a status label. What does it say?

How can I have a recovery code…
If I don’t have a recovery code. Again bro the code I have is invalid ( it’s the only one I’ve ever had) and I can’t get another one due to not having the old phone number. Therefore how can I enter a code that doesn’t work and I can’t get a new code because my account is linked to an old number I no longer have access to. I’ve done everything you have said even before you’ve said to do it. It’s as simple as I can’t get into the account unless I get a new code but to do so I need to get another code from the old phone number. I’ve said this several times. You’re telling me to do something I’ve already done even when I wasn’t in a panicked state and still had another attempt. It’s simple as one thing can’t work without the other and vise versa
