Windows 11 Troubleshooting has messed with my display

A game wasn't working properly and after googling the suggested solution was to run the troubleshooter to fix it. This sort of worked but the end result has wreaked havoc on my PC.

Games by default launch in 3840×2160. My actual resolution is 2560×1440. What's worse is even if I correct the resolution my computer struggles to run a lot of games. I played through all of Elden Ring on high graphics with no problems. Now even at the lowest graphics my PC becomes dangerously hot after 2 minutes in the DLC. Games also just load slower if I can even play them.

I've met two dead ends searching for a fix.
The first was to open the Nvidia panel and turn off image scaling and DSR. I did but it didn't help.
The second was the uninstall then reinstall the driver. I did, didn't work.

Yes I did check the resolution settings in Windows and on the Nvidia panel. Both are set to 2560x1440.

Try X:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing\GraphicsConfig.xml , see if there are any settings to change the resolution, save.
