How to speak with a human in Steam Support?
My flatmate just opened his account to see his entire CS:2 inventory nuked to a lv 1 account he had no prior association with. His mobile authenticator was changed without his knowledge 2 days prior to the trade (July 21st) and there wasn’t any attempt on steam’s end to hold the trade for further verification. Looking online it said there’s a number (425-889-9642) and an email (support@steampowered.com), but my experience with “Facebook Customer Service Number” scams has me dubious about their legitimacy. Can someone at steam reach out to us about this? I think it’s ridiculous that there wasn’t even a trade hold for such an unbelievably obvious scam, and even more insane that the support tab just says “lmao ur fault.”

... except is it is the account holder's fault for getting phished (which is the most likely attack vector). Support won't tell you anything different. Secure your account and book the losses as a learning experience.

The same Spiel as always: deauthorize all other accounts, revoke your API key, change password.

Great reply man! If you didn’t say that I wouldn’t have remembered reading it a few minutes ago!

Did you maybe have something to add about contacting support through more direct channels instead of inflating your post count?

Would be sick if they had a “high roller” support number for those of us with too much money to spend/lose, no?

Take the following steps to secure your Steam account:

1. Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a clean computer.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key (there should be no key). https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

a) Steam Support does not restore lost items. Items often exchange hands multiple times before a restoration request and this means they cannot be restored without duplicating them or removing them from another innocent user’s inventory. Duplicating items has a negative impact on everyone who trades or uses the Market by lowering the value of items.

Can tell OP want to speak to steam support to get back the items lost in the inventory

But under Steam Item Restoration Policy here https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/3B6E-B322-2400-8D24

Steam Support does not restore items that have left accounts for any reason, including trades, market transactions, deletions, or gifting.

It is your responsibility to secure your Steam account. To quickly make trades or sales on the Market, your account must be protected by a Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator. This ensures that only you are able to remove items from your account. If you can’t enable an Authenticator, Steam will hold the trade or Market sell listing for a period of 15 days so that you’ll have enough time to discover and cancel pending transactions if your account was compromised.

Steam is full of ♥♥♥♥. I bought a game TODAY call of duty. Downloaded it. Went to play it but it never loaded up it stayed in a load screen. It’s still in the load screen right now but it’s unplayable. I tried to refund my money back because the game won’t play at all I tried for hours. Because it says the game been running it won’t let me get a refund and I never even played the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. 74 dollars down the drain because they keep denying my request on a game that won’t even load up to be played.
