Does anyone know how to download on an external drive ?

So I am about to buy a game ( Microsoft Flight Simulator ) and I don’t have enough storage but I have an external drive which act as a flash drive ( My dad’s external drive which was gifted to him , it has been sitting unused for a year so I decided to ask )

I have an external drive and every time I download something, it asks where I want it.

May be you can try to use symbolics links with the download folder of steam ?

I have 4 Steam Libraries and 2 hot swap external drives and Steam always asks me but it is a great thing because of storage limitations. The only thing to remember is that the external drives must stay on the same drive location so make sure if anything to always keep the external plugged in first then any other external device/drive/flash/etc... so it stays on the usual default (D:) and not the next ones, or applicable but what I did was make my hot swap drive a "permanent" letter drive so there is no letter switching so my default external device drives are E:, I:, J: in that order but that is one thing that often gets people is if the external drive switches to its next in line default which causes the games not to load.
