Extreme lag on all games, all of a sudden?
A few days ago, all of my games would have extreme lag (2-6 second delay whenever doing something). This is not game specific. All of the games I've tested (ULTRAKILL, Team Fortress 2, Empires of the Undergrowth) have this issue. The Google account I have connected had a similar issue, and may have been hacked, but was fixed when I hit the button to force log out on all devices. However, trying the same with my steam account (deauthorizing all devices) idn't yeild any results.

I've also notice very strange intricacies. All audio is normal, and things such as GIFs friends send load just fine. I found out my internet is pretty slow (highest I've been able to get to is ~55 MB/s). However, i'm not sure if this is the issue as games I open via my browser run just fine. Also tried verifying the files of these games, which hasn't changed anything.

Is this solely my internet speeds fault? Again, I doubt it due to anything on my browser and in Steam itself working fine. Just whatever game I open has slideshow frame-rate. My GPU, memory usage and RAM all seem to be just fine, though I am not entirely sure as to what would be considered good for those (not a tech genius). Again, this happened only 5 days ago, abruptly.

Also, downloaded a new game (Katana Zero) and it is running well, though not completely smoothly. Compared to other games like Helldivers 2, the graphics are not as demanding but games like Ultrakill and Tf2 have pretty low graphical requirements, and they lag to a point of unplayability

background programs running their daily tasks on that date or day

Open task manager to check cpu usage and disk usage when it happens next time

This is a daily and consistent thing. Happens every time I open a game no matter what day

I did. Before trying anything, I deleted every game I don’t play regularly. I have a little under 1/4th of my max storage remaining. I don’t think it’s that, but thank you

Kindly provide your cpu specs

My husband and I are also experiencing this issue. We have been able to play just fine up thru last week. We have been working and haven't had the chance to play anything until yesterday when we discovered we weren't able to due to extreme lag on several games that we attempted. We restarted our router and restarted our computers to see if that would fix the issue, but there was no change.

I think I solved my husband and my issues. I think a recent Windows update broke our graphics drivers. I had to reinstall the driver and it seems to have fixed the lag issue at least.

I went to the Device Manager -> Display Adapters and my graphics driver had the yield symbol and said it wasn't working properly. My husbands was the same.

After fixing that I tried a game that previously lagged and it no longer lagged.

Fixed it! Uninstalled then reinstalled the driver that was buggin out and now it’s all good. Thank you so much for the help!

thanks for this suggestion, while I didn't have the yield symbol I did reinstall the drivers anyways and seems to have fixed my issue as well

I was having this exact issue. See this post, and what do ya know, something ♥♥♥♥♥ was happening with the graphics driver. I roll it back, problem solved. Thanks!
