CD KEY DUPLICATE

Hi. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I Purchased SKYRIM for PC as a disc many years ago. I have not played it in a long while. I want to play it but I when I install I get an ÍNVALID BACK-UP PATH message and when I try to add it to my steam account by entering the key code found on the inside of the DVD box, it says this key code has already been registered on another account. When I first registered on steam I had a different email address. That email no longer works and so I signed up a new account with my current email address. could this be the issue? and if so is there a solution?

If you used the Key on a different account then the key is used and can not be used for another account.

There's no way to change that. If you want to play with that key you'll need to recover the account on which the key was used.

should have used account recovery process instead of making new account..

buy the game again on this acc or try your luck with recovery

And for the future, remember that account bindings are permanent -- once a game is registered to an account, that's it. Nothing can be done to change that.

And since that's also a core element of Steams business pitch, it's unlikely to change in the next few decades.
