I suppose there's only a limited amount of actual "checking" because IP-geolocation is notoriously inaccurate.
If you're in the US, they'll need it for tax purposes because everyone and their dog has different sale tax.
But, even in Europe, they still need to know what country they need to pay the taxes to.
the bank cant help with this right?
I would imagine the bank will ask you for that information as part of their security process to ensure you are the correct person.
don't know about the US but in the UK it is required by all card providers.
i was using a specific postal code before and it was working but now when i try to use the same exact postal code with the same exact billing information it just doesn't work.
So if you gave bank postal code 12345 then use 12345, if gave bank address 123 rainbow road, you put in 123 rainbow road simple stuff, if you don't remember what information you gave to your bank you have to login to your bank, and check the info you gave.
Now if you're trying to use a bank card that as no ties to Visa, Mastercard, or etc for Online transactions then that card can't be used for online payment, so ensure your bank card is meant to be used for online.
the problem is i used the same exact card with the same exact details on the microsoft store and it was working fine. it only doesnt work on steam
well i get this error:
Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company.
Note that in some cases, your credit card company may put a 'hold' on funds in your account, but you will not be charged. After correcting any errors in the information displayed below, please try your purchase again.
i did look it up on steam but i think he problem isint with my bank, given that the card works in other stores
You can try paypal see if that works for you, if not then gonna have to talk to your bank.
If the issue was Steam end it would've said contact support, which you have to do to find out what the problem.
