I can't play death's gambit afterlife with my switch pro controller

Hello guys, do you know why my game stops functioning properly when i'm about to chose the character? I've been using a switch pro controller, so I don't know if this is the reason, I even selected the option "gamepad" when the game asked me how i wanted to play.
