Now it will be easier if there is only one save game file and you used Steam Cloud but if not it is easy enough to find, so you go to here (if using Steam Cloud), using a browser is best:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
Then you might see a list of them for the game so make sure you are grabbing the proper save file I think it might be best to save the game right before you move it to make sure it is the correct one with the current timestamp.
So you go there and download the save game .zip
Then you go to LocalLow Appdata which is easily done by going into File Explorer and copy pasting this in the command line:
%localappdata%low
From there locate:
Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves\(pretty sure this an account number - about 17 digits long)
→ SinglePlayer
And here is where it gets interesting:
Take that .zip cut and paste it into that location above in SinglePlayer then open that .zip file and copy & paste the entire contents but do not remove the .zip or use cut, only use copy for this part (the .zip acts as a backup save contents folder).
So copy those files and go to the manilla folder which should now be your account folder (10 digit number) and copy all those contents from that .zip into that 10-digit folder in SinglePlayer.
This should now have the .zip (backup save game) and the save game itself in that folder within "SinglePlayer" and you are good to go.
I almost forgot, when using this method make sure to first go into Steam Client rt-click the game < Properties < General and turn off Steam Cloud temporarily then after you start the game (after moving those save files), you can then turn it back on so that it registers.
~ OR ~
You can also try your luck using Steam Client "Backup Game Files" located by rt-clicking the game in Steam Library < Properties < Installed Files which might be easier; however, if you have a bunch of saves from other people it might get a bit sticky.
I hope I did not butcher this and I hope this helps.
Thank you for your detailed explanation on how to get this done! It is such a life saver :')
