Steam Cloud save has wrong save file
I launched the game Deep Rock Galactic on my laptop, and it updated my steam cloud save to the save that is on my laptop. My desktop and laptop both have steam cloud save turned on for this game, but for some reason the laptop save had not been updated to the version on my desktop.

It set back my progress on steam cloud to this save. My desktop should still have the correct save locally as I have not launched the game.

I have had this problem in the past, and Steam gives me the error message of a save mismatch with the cloud, but it doesn't really help. I know that if I continue to launch the game, it will overwrite my correct save file from the desktop with the one from the cloud. I suppose Steam does this because it sees a later timestamp on the cloud save, but that cloud save is actually coming from the bad laptop save.

How do I update the steam cloud save to be that of my desktop (the 'good' save)?

Use a flash/thumb drive and manually move your save files.

Provide the right answer in the cloud mismatch dialog so you won't overwrite the save you don't want to overwrite.

I figured it out. I did this on my laptop, I have yet to test on how it affects desktop, but it should work the same.

Deep Rock > options > save menu > restore

In that menu there was a save that was the correct save from my desktop. I figured it out by looking at the save file that had the highest player rank.

I don't know why steam cloud save has this issue with transferring the correct save to my laptop. The correct save was clearly downloaded to my laptop as I was able to select the correct save on the laptop without any action on my desktop. I guess it has an issue with picking the right save as there are multiple backup files.

As stated, the cloud mismatch popup was not of any help in the past. It did not let me simply select the correct save file. I think this has to do with Deep Rock itself creating multiple backups. I go into further detail into how I figured it out in my comment:

Yeah, I got that much. It's just that your comment came after mine. You really don't need to put an emphasis on something you said after my post.

I was just trying to explain why that wouldn't work, at least for this game, as I didn't see your comment until after making mine. Thank you for the help!

Forum woes, I get it. Please accept my apology for lashing out at you because of forum woes.
