Why does my steam download speed drop drastically?
Started downloading a game and my download speeds reached 23.2mb/s as the peak and it stayed around 17-19mb/s for the first 40% and after that it's only downloading at 7-9mb/s. What's the issue and how do i fix this?

Well maybe you enabled to throttle it while playing, other people using the internet slows it down too like if someone is watching youtube at 1080p that would take atleast 1-2mb/s off. Other then that i would say try downloading something big from the browser and see if its the same and if so i would conact the internet provider.

It was enabled but I wasn't playing at the time and funny enough I was watching youtube it was at its peak. When i closed everything and left my pc idle, it dropped all the way to 10 mb/s

Dunno i had a similar issue for about half a year now but its tied to having any browser running(FF or opera). They almost instantly kill the speed down to next to nothing. Mind you i got fiber optic and great speed so i shouldn't have any issue and even before that i had decent internet that was never affected by that. Even without that some download regions just have pathetic speeds.

If you're downloading to a SSD then try disabling/enabling write cache for it. Some people have found this fixes it.

I have the same problem, it's only with Steam, i tried disabling/enabling write cache, changing download region, clearing cache, restarting modem. Noting seems to work, sometimes it starts at full speed, but in a few seconds it drops drastically. It become slower than my previous non fiber connection.
