You, as hundreds of other Steam users "per day", got scammed and your accounts sort of hijacked.

On some day you had got fooled/tricked by scammers so to given away your steam account credentials on some fake and/or phishing website/link literally, so even the QR and/or SteamGuard codes got cloned for them and/or simply becoming bypassed ..

So, if you logged in into a scam/phishing site and/or clicked on a "suspicious" link, you gave away all of your Steam Account credentials and login informations. This is the oldest scam since Internet..

A bot creates and places an API-key into your Steam account and therefore get semi-full access to it. This API-key grants remote access for developers or in your case for the scammer & hijacker.

Hundreds and thousands of Steam Accounts become hijacked like this on a DAILY BASIS, cuz of greed .. using account credentials and security measures without a brain ..

Your hijacked items are lost..!

This ususally happens to DOTA2, TeamFortress2, CS2, Rust players, etc .. games with skins and stuff .. and usually begins via Discord or similar.

A first step to enhance security is to select and use a correct browser as "Firefox + uBlock Origin (by Raymond Hill), to delete all cookies when closing a browser and to dont blindly click on next next next and on links links links .. without reading and without using a brain..

An anti-vir as ESET would also help, as it filters out known scamming and phishing sites..

Dont use Facebook, dont use Twitter, dont use WhatsApp, dont use Discord, ...
AND NEVER USE ANY GOOGLE APPS AND SOFTWARE ..

Simply stay far away from "ANY" META and ALPHABET APPS and SOFTWARE ..

Netrunner, you live true to your name.
Thank you for this!

I got phished, probably because I tried to be cheap and get a Steam Key from somewhere.
Few of my friends got messages for a 'gift' with a terribly spelled link. (Thank you, Steam, for mentioning it being potentially dangerous) and a lot of my cards have been sold, for four Dota 2 skins.

Followed every step you mentioned. Did it twice even, just to be sure.
Running a full on Anti-Virus scan on top of everything, and I'm simply not cutting corners or anything like that.

You are amazing, and thank you so so so freaking much. Feeling a lot safer now.
