Steam returns wrong GPU driver version
Steam says my AMD Radeon RX470 drivers are too old and must be +17.7.2. I'm running 24.3.1. When I first boot the game, I get a dialog about it not shutting down correctly and if I want to run in Safe Mode. It doesn't seem to matter which way I go, I still get the error. It ran fine before I upgraded my PC (specifically to run WW II Multiplayer). Now that my system meets the minimum requirements, I can't run it.

MB - ASUS Prime B550-PLUS AMD AM4 Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 & 3rd Gen Ryzen ATX
Video - SOYO AMD Radeon RX470
Operating System - Windows 10 Home 22H2 64-bit
CPU - AMD Ryzen 3 1200
RAM - 128 GB
DirectX 12

If I continue, I get a "DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error...the GPU device instance has been suspended." followed by an AMD Bug Report about a driver timeout.

I have noticed that Windows says I have three monitors when I only have two, and the ghost monitor is using 10.# drivers. I tried upgrading the drivers and deleting the Generic PnP monitor in the Device Control Panel, Device Manager, and Registry Editor. I'm not sure what else to do.

Check windows programs a feature i think its called , then look at GPU driver's installed, could you have 2 drivers or old drivers in system that somehow give this odd consequence why steam or whatever app say's you have gpu driver issue and also why you have 3 monitors, then you say there is only 2., ( no VM ) i bet so i think somehow system think there is a issue with what it can see.

also check windows device manager , what do system see there.

ps.
no matter what i think you shoulld DDU and reinstall newest or past gpu driver is this matter.
but as i see it still all AMD support problem and make sure board brand is update in BIOS and chipset drivers.

steam is not going to fix whatever other BRAND name or AMD issue you have.
same goes with Asus board check for all updates.

dont forget Monitors, most just use windows default , but what if Brabnd monitor did make a firmware or software update.

Note that steam doesn't really check your driver versions. That's generally a game issue

https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/previous-drivers.html/graphics/radeon-600-500-400/radeon-rx-400-series/radeon-rx-470.html

The most recent drivers are 24.4.1 from AMD

If you're having issues you should uninstall the drivers

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/RSX2-UNINSTALL.html

Reboot

Then reinstall the latest drivers
While uninstalling the drivers my screens went black and never came back. I switched GPUs, but the only thing that opens is File Explorer. I think it has something to do with deleting the Generic PnP monitor. Anyway, that's where I'm at.

Update: I was able to install the latest drivers in Safe Mode. However, the newest version I can find is 24.1.1. Regardless, things are running as expected and I'm getting killed faster than ever.

Thanks for the help.
