Discord doesn't show the game I play
I'm using Discord and have steam connected, but my games didnt show up as status "Endinger is playing xyz"...
Discord support said: "check that Game activity in Steam is set to 'Public' " but i didnt find that.
The games are not privat! and my status didnt show up no matter which game i play on steam.
I disconnect and reconneted the services x-times - didnt help.
Other services are working well. other users on steam dont have this problems - but they are noobs, so they cant tell me their settings resp. they didnt set anything special in the settings...

Did you check your discord settings? Look at the registered games at the bottom of discord settings, you can toggle on/off your steam games or add a game your not seeing.

User settings (gear icon) -> Registered Games (near the bottom)
"Not seeing your game? Add it!"

All games? You have a discord setting that turns of showing which games you're running. Thats the only thing I can think of. Usually it should always show up as default, so nothing you have to change, unless you changed something to begin with.

Same issue for me on steam deck

Non that I’ve found yet
Firstly, make sure you have your Discord privacy settings configured correctly! Generally and on a specific server, because it is possible to share activity globally, automatically on large servers and so on, but having it turned off on a specific server where the status is not shared, whereas yer friends or other servers can see what activity you are doing and even join ye, but only if you have allowed it in the Discord/server privacy settings. It's not enough to just detect a game, mate!

Discord settings (actually called User settings, the gear icon next to yer profile name at the bottom left):

scroll down to
activity settings
click on
activity privacy
in right panel allow
Share your detected activities with others

Below it you can allow it by default for servers with more than 200 members (not needed for sharing to work though).

With this setting your are almost set, almost:

Make sure that the privacy settings on the server on which you want to display activities are set accordingly:

o RMB on Server-Icon
Privacy Settings
Activity Status
must be ON!

If you now click on your profile name while an activity is running, you can already see it in your profile card! But it's not necessarily visible to others if you have also set up a
'Custom Status'

Therefore, one last check, IMPORTANT, make sure that the speech bubble in your profile card says

+Add Status

If not, delete whatever status you set there! It will otherwise overwrite whatever activity is shown on the servers. People would only be able to see your shared activities if they cumbersomely clicked on yer name. They will not see any activity status in the member list if you have set a custom status! Nomen est omen.

You can also find this setting under Discord's
User Settings
Profiles
On the right hand side is a preview of yer profile card as it will be displayed to others (only when they click on your profile name!), and there it is again, that balloon next to your avatar/profile picture: it must be empty! No custom status here, or it won't work in servers' member lists.

Edit: Steam and its privacy settings have nothing whatsoever to do with Discord! Only what games you have registered in Discord are allowed to be detected AND that those activities are allowed to be shared with others in Discord settings decide what you see on Discord! The games that Discord can automatically detect or are manually added to Discord's game list are set right below the 'Activity Privacy' setting. Next to each game under the 'Registered Games' section you can see an eye-icon. There you can toggle the detection of each game ON/OFF separately, so, even with a game in this list detected by Discord, does not mean you have to share THIS particular game activity, no matter what you set on Steam. Steam CANNOT overrule the privacy settings of another company's app, as Discord is not meddling with your settings on Steam. You decide. You can't see my games on Steam, but you can see me playing Steam games on Discord.

I tried multiple things others had said about getting it to connect properly and display what game I’m playing, nothing worked. I downloaded decky loader on pc mode and plugged it in on game mode then ran my discord through there and now it connects with my discord perfectly. Only thing is you will have to launch discord before you launch whatever game you are getting ready to play, so you have to add discord to your steam library on pc mode also to be able to do that.
not working for me either

Same thing is happening for me. I'm not sure if it's because i'm not using the desktop version or something else. the option to turn on the visibility won't even show up.

just had the same problem but I think i found a solution/fix:

(1# start the game you want to play and have it run in the baggound)

(2# open discord app on pc)

(3# go to user settings)

(4# go down to registered games and press x on the game u that to play)

(5# go back til your game and hopefully it's should work) (try again if it didnt work the first time)

hope it helped and made sense
