Help, can't run games on new build...
I don't know what's going on. Games ran fine on my old build, but my new build is having issues. My new build has a Ryzen 7 7700x and a RX 7900 GRE. I of course had to redownload Steam and the game that i play (7DTD). but after playing for just a few minutes, the game locks up and says there an issue with AMD. All drivers are up to date and I am running AMD Adrenalin with all default settings. I thought maybe it was an issue with 7DTD, so I downloaded Call of Duty and it is doing the same thing. please help...

Heat issue maybe sense it work only a few minutes ?

Temps are good. CPU stays around 45c and GPU around 60c.
The notification that I keep getting when it locks up is a AMD driver timeout.
The Bios and Chipset drivers have all been updated to the most current version.
No overclocking is being done, I don't even know how to do that.

There is a difference between overclocking CPU and overclocking GPU

Your amd gpu most likely locks up because you are overclocking the gpu beyond its limit

It just says that there is a driver timeout. I'm not quite sure how to take and post a screenshot as I'm a basic novice at this kind of stuff. my previous build did not do this at all. it was a basic I5 12600K with a RX 6700 XT.

I haven't selected any options for overclocking the GPU or the CPU. Is this something that happens automatically?

no, CPUs and GPUs do not change outside their specified clocking ranges on their own.

I rather have a hunch that your GPU has hardware side defects if your GPU driver frequently crashes.

BTW, what's your PSU make and model?

My PSU is a Thermaltake GF1 850w.
My entire new build is;
Ryzen 7 7700x
Asus Tuf Gaming Rx 7900 GRE O.C. edition
Asus Tuf Gaming B650M plus wifi motherboard
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz
Crucial P3 Plus Gen 4 NVMe 1tb
Deepcool Mystique 360 AIO
Deepcool CH360 case

PSU is sufficient.

Cooling is also looking good to me.

Does the issue appear only with specific games or with every game?

You might try to run furmark to see if there are stability issues, but cancel the run after 60 seconds or if temperatures exceeds 85°C (cpu max is 94°C and GPU max is 100°C). If furmark crashes or freezes within these 60 seconds, something is wrong with your GPU.

Also, i assume you plugged in all power cables as required.

I usually only play 7 Days To Die. after I built this rig, installed windiws 11, updated the Bios, installed all the updated drivers, i installed steam and 7DTD. The game crashed with the driver timeout warning within minutes of starting it. restarted several time with the same results. To test and see if it was the game, I downloaded Call Of Duty; Warzone. And it is doing the same thing. But, it is only during gameplay on both. When I am in the menu options with either game, it doesn't crash at all.
Is furmark part of steam? Or can I do a system stress test though Adrenaline?
Ettanin 4 jul. 2024 às 0:56
Furmark is not part of Steam, it's a third party OpenGL and Vulkan GPU stress test tool and can be obtained here:
