Is it ok to extend your laptop display all day everyday?
Is it ok to always extend your display using the laptop screen and an external monitor?

I ask because I have had issues with my HP omen where the laptop will just become faulty. I had it repaired twice but they couldnt figure out what was wrong. after threatening to take them to court they have offered a full refund.

i'm tempted to buy the laptop again because its now £200 cheaper than when I bought it.

Im worried that the laptop will become faulty again. is extending your laptop screen all day everyday too strenuous for a laptop? this includes having Youtube running on one screen and using the other to work from home/game depending on the time of day.

It's a mid tier laptop with AMD 7840hs, 4070gpu and 32gb Ram so i'd like to think that extending a laptop display is simply just everyday usage. My laptop is doing this everyday from around 8am to around 11pm.

Many laptops are operated like that on a daily basis in the workplace. While it is more work for the laptop to do that, it is not an extraordinary expectation that should cause it to malfunction.

heads up, most IT places might use a docking box, so keyboard mouse and monitor is attached to that , that means then laptop need 1 cable from dock to laptop and , then you can have lead closed, and laptop is more as a attached pc unit.

and be happy you did not try take HP to court , because you will lose. such is seen as setup, why HP do not tell you this i dont know, and yes you can tell system to have lead open, but why show laptop screen i dont know if this is a monitor, unless you use keybaord on laptop and maybe this is part of the problem.

In the UK a company has the right to attempt 1 repair if they fail then I have the right to demand a refund. Them refusing me a refund is going against my rights. I sought legal advice before challenging them.

yeah and that will not work in rest of the world most be one of them UK special rights we have seen some UK users mentions. ( from broken software and things like that )

I can only tell you i have seen both senarios , lead open and not and docking box as main unit that enhance a real keyboard and so ppl dont have to use laptop keys on work places.

This is why i mention this laptop is not same as desktop pc, and why bother sho you things on laptop screen then lead is closed, so black screen actual make sense then other monitor is there.

its here there has been post in this last few days, we have seen laptop user dont get it. ( not the first post with it )

we as steam user can only inform ppl with it,

You really need to look up your own countries laws. The EU has a similar provision to the UK's consumer rights act where a vendor is expected to remedy a faulty item within the first couple of years. This has been in place for physical goods for years and there has been legislation for digital goods, although I have no idea if it's been added to every EU countries laws yet.

You still assume its Brand support issue, what if we other dont see it like that.
