Download won't stop downloading

I was trying to download a game and after it reached 100% it sat there for about 30 minutes. I tried to cancel and redo the download but it won't cancel or move onto installing. It's been about 13 hours and nothing has changed. I tried clearing the download cache but it even that isn't working saying I need to wait for the download to cancle

probably a corrupted file download. reboot. If game shows in your steam library when you've rebooted then verify files. If not - well - you know what to do.

add steam.exe to exception rules , to make sure its not a blocking issue at Antivirus app.

I tried refreshing multiple times, when I open up steam again it just says 100% downloaded and canceling download like before, verifying files says that all 0 files were successfully verified so idk if it's even downloaded. I made sure steam and whisky are both given full access to my files as I need to run steam through the whiskey program, I'm on Mac. I don't think I have an antivirus so I don't think it would be that, as well as I have been able to download games without a problem in the past.

After refreshing steam a couple more times I got a critical error message and steam completely shut down on it's own. After reopening it the game download was cancelled and automatically restarted from 0%. The game is now sitting on 100% downloaded but not moving forward, it's not saying 100% downloaded and cancelling download at the same time though now so idk if its fixed

Sorry - I assumed you were on a windows PC in which case I'd have said to try to uninstall/deleted the download with steam and if that didn't work find the file on your PC if it even exists and delete it with the OS. Then reinstall.

I've never even seen a Mac in my life and I've been using computers since 1974 and the late 70's when desktops first came out (does TRS-80 ring a bell?)

I tried going through all of my files and searching for the game in both the whiskey and steam local files browser, no matter where I have looked for the game files they are just not existing. It might be a mac problem in which case i'll just refund the game after trying a couple other things. Thanks for the help 🙏

oh my fault, I thought help and tips was for general help with steam problems. how do I move it there?

You don't, other than starting a new thread on that forum. Couple years ago, I would have moved it but with the moderation lately, I'd just start a new thread...
