Working as a translator for video games

Hi everyone, I heard that being a volunteer and working on translating video games on Steam was once possible but now isn't unfortunately. So, let's say that I am a fellow gamer who wants to work as a translator to help some of his people who don't understand English and thus can't enjoy playing the games with English subtitles but have no other choice. What are my options? Is it possible for me to work for a firm or am I just supposed to work as a freelancer in this line of work? Thanks in advance.

PS: I'd like to translate English texts to Turkish, although I'm aware that the demand might not be that high. :') Then again, I see a lot of new video games being released without Turkish subtitles while gaming is really popular in the country, so maybe I am mistaken :')

Freelancer straight with the developers as I have seen a few ask their respected communities previously, looking for translators for their game(s).
